I've been looking for the various drivers at HP and elsewhere to see if updating this PC to winxp home is sane or if I should just get another hobby. Sound, video controller: Riptide PCI Audio Legacy Resources & Riptide Virtual Gameport

Would you think that this hardware would meet the minimum to run winxp or would it likely just bog it down with more demanding OS? The only thing original in it is the motherboard and cpu. I would like to try to upgrade to winxp but I'll lose a few programs I'm fond of. Yep, it looks like I'm beating a dead horse to keep win98 on my system and retain any functionality today. What is your computer spec i can tell you if it will run windows xp or not. Xp does not need a super computer to run not like vista.

Sorry this is almost a brand new printer.Īs such no driver for windows 98 / me is out.īecuase old microsoft pulled the plug on these versions of windows people like hp do not bother to write any drivers for them as they class those versions of windows as dead. Just wondered if anyone had found a driver that allowed win98 to function with this type of printer. My PC would not meet minimum specs to convert the win98 OS to winxp.

I've tried a lot of driver sites and can't seem to find a legacy driver (pre-win2000) that will work with the printer.

My 6-year old Gateway 500S desktop with Windows XP SP3 has 3 different model HP all-in-ones connected and running on it, so having multiple printers/all-in-ones on the same computer isn't a problem for me.įrom my experience with HP printers/all-in-ones, the normal procedure is to turn on the computer, then turn on the printer/all-in-one, then insert the software CD and start the install process, then connect the printer/all-in-one with its USB cable when prompted to, then allow it to be recognized, then allow the software to finish installing, then restart the computer.HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-One win98 - Printable Version I'm at a loss as to how you got it installed in the first place with Windows 98 because it's designed to work only with Windows XP, 2000, and Vista - as all new printers/all-in-ones are that I've seen. This is the software and support site for the HP Photosmart C5280 All-In-One:
